Dholera timeline
The Dholera timeline arranges the project's documented milestones in date order, from the SIR (Special Investment Region, a state-notified industrial zone that gets its own planning authority) Act of 2009 through to the 2026 updates such as the expressway opening and the first trial aircraft landing. Each entry keeps its reported or target label so you can see what is confirmed and what is still planned.

What the timeline does
The Dholera timeline gives a single chronological view of how the project has actually progressed, using only dated, sourced milestones. It draws on the fact base to place events in order, for example the Gujarat SIR Act in 2009, the incorporation of DICDL (Dholera Industrial City Development Limited, the company that builds the city) on 28 Jan 2016, the Union Cabinet approval of the Tata Electronics and PSMC fab on 29 Feb 2024, the CCEA clearance of the semi-high-speed rail on 13 May 2026, the reported inauguration of the Ahmedabad to Dholera expressway on 31 Mar 2026, and the first trial aircraft landing at the Dholera airport on 4 Jun 2026. Seeing these in sequence helps separate the long planning history from the recent burst of on-ground activity.
How to use it
Read the timeline top to bottom to understand the arc of the project, or jump to a specific year to check when something happened. Pay attention to the label on each entry. Some events are durable confirmed facts, some are reported by press or trade sources, and some are targets that have not yet been achieved, such as the airport operations targeted for September to October 2026 or the rail completion targeted up to 2030-31. The timeline deliberately keeps these distinctions visible, because Dholera has a documented history of slipping targets, the airport opening in particular has been a repeatedly moved date since about 2010. Use the timeline alongside the updates page for the most recent movements and the data room for the underlying numbers.
How to read the labels
A confirmed milestone is one backed by a primary source with a firm date, for instance the PIB release for the rail approval. A reported milestone is credible but rests on press or trade coverage, so it is presented as reported. A target is a stated goal, not an accomplished fact, and is labelled as such. This labelling is the point of the tool, it lets you trust the confirmed dates while treating targets with appropriate caution rather than reading every entry as settled history.
