What Linde supplies to a fab
A fab's appetite for gases is enormous. Nitrogen alone is used in huge quantities to purge and blanket tools and to maintain inert environments, and it is often generated on site by an air separation plant. Our sources name INOX among firms reported around Dholera but do not confirm Linde as a Dholera gas supplier. A plant of this type plausibly uses an industrial gas partner of this sort, but the specific vendor at Dholera is not confirmed in our sources.
Why gas suppliers locate on site
Industrial gas supply has an unusual feature: because a fab cannot tolerate an interruption and the volumes are so large, gas majors often build production plants directly next to or on the customer's site and sign long-term contracts to guarantee supply. This makes gas companies among the most physically embedded ecosystem players around a fab, sometimes present before the fab itself is finished. Our sources associate the Indian gas major INOX with Dholera at a reported level, which is consistent with this pattern of local gas supply, but they do not name Linde in connection with Dholera. Dholera status: not confirmed in our sources
Our sources, the Dholera fact pack (v14), the V13 refresh and the FAQ bank, confirm only two fab supplier relationships for Dholera: PSMC as the Tata fab's process-technology partner and ASML as its lithography partner. They do not name this company as a confirmed Dholera supplier. A 300mm fab of the type Tata is building would normally rely on tools or materials of this kind, so the company is sensible ecosystem context, but a routine industry fit is not evidence of a contract.
