01

What PM Gati Shakti is

PM Gati Shakti is a national programme intended to bring together the planning of India's infrastructure, roads, railways, ports, airports, power and communication, so that projects are coordinated rather than built in isolation. The core idea is a shared digital platform and a common approach that lets different ministries and agencies see and align their projects, reducing duplication and delay. It is a framework for how infrastructure gets planned and sequenced, not a single physical project.

Why Gati Shakti matters for Dholera

Dholera is a place where several major infrastructure strands come together, the expressway, the airport, the semi-high-speed rail and industrial utilities. The Ahmedabad to Dholera semi-high-speed rail, whose approval was confirmed by the CCEA on 13 May 2026 per PIB release ID 2260624, is being advanced on the PM Gati Shakti framework, connecting Ahmedabad, the Dholera SIR (Special Investment Region, a state-notified industrial zone that gets its own planning authority), the Dholera airport and the Lothal national heritage site. Gati Shakti is therefore the coordinating logic that ties Dholera's transport links into a single planned network, and it is cited in the official record for the rail project. It helps explain why Dholera's connectivity projects are framed as part of an integrated national plan.
